Clinical Interns Training Program

New Leaf offers an 11-month intensive clinical training program for people pursuing an advanced counseling degree: for example, Masters in Social Work (MSM), Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy, (MFT) or a PhD or Psy.D in Psychology. Interns are responsible for providing direct clinical services in the following areas:  
   Intake evaluation and treatment planning
   Long and short-term individual therapy
   Group therapy
   Couples therapy
   Case management
   Crisis intervention and referral

There are 18-20 training slots available for clinical interns. We typically receive over 100 applicants.

Training Event


New Leaf occasionally offers conferences for mental health professionals on topics related to clinical care of the LGBTQQI community. This year’s conference was entitled “Kaleidoscope of Identities: Clinical Approaches to Working with Women, Culture, and Intersecting Identities,” held on February 20, and exploring the complex interweaving of LGBTQQI women’s culture, spirituality, and sexuality.
